
LE MESNIL MAUGER - 14270
The Mesnil Mauger has been a commune located in a strategic place for the merovingian period. In fact, the Mesnil Mauger is near the major roads which link Falaise or Caen to Lisieux.
In the 19e century, a railway line was created and it allowed to the commercial traffic to grow up.
Inside the village, the church of Sainte Marie aux Anglais is the oldest one of Normandy. Besides, the church of Doux Marais from the 17e century and built with stones of Caen, is included in a marked route.
We can also admire half timbering on the presbytery and the manor of the Coin who own a complex history.
Lastly, the cheese making Lepetit worth a stop because it’s one of the oldest in Normandy.
The Camembert was made in 1791 by Marie Harel and diffused in the region in 1813.
